The Roost Social Club

DOCUMENTATION

The Roost Social Club is an interactive performance installation structured through the systems of a casino and a brothel. These environments form both the visual world of the work and the mechanisms through which visitors participate. Given dollars to spend, visitors choose between gambling with corrupt dealers or entering intimate booths offering erotic and artistic services. Loosely inspired by the animated series Spicy City, the work constructs a fictional economy through which it explores escapism within capitalist excess and questions the relationship between money, pleasure, art, power, desire, and value.
